Marshall & Co. is an operator's consultancy for the whole business: revenue, sales strategy, marketing and advertising, starting up, and running it day to day. My specialty is the money a busy business already loses: operating costs, workflows that waste hours, and tax savings and credits nobody claimed.
Because the owner is too busy running it to audit it. I know, because I was that owner. I tested this audit on my own business first. Start with one look at your costs.
Nothing upfront. 20% of a verified saving. Nothing found, nothing paid.
That is the fee for savings and recovery work, stated at headline size because it is the offer. What the word verified means, exactly, is published in the fee definition. Growth work (revenue, sales, marketing, advertising, launches) is scoped and priced in writing before it starts. You see the number before you agree to anything.
Two kinds of work. The whole business is the scope. The specialty is where most clients start, because the first look costs nothing upfront.
The whole business
Pricing, pipeline, and the follow up that turns enquiries into signed work.
Where the money goes, what it brings back, and what to stop paying for.
From raw idea to first customers: structure, numbers, and the order things have to happen in.
The day to day running of it: who does what, what it costs, and where the hours go.
The specialty
Bills, loans, freight, and tariffs: the money already leaving, checked line by line.
Work done by hand that a system should do once. Hours back, every week.
Found with AI, decided by licensed CPAs: deductions missed and credits never claimed, identified for a CPA you engage.
Point me at one bill, one area. That's the whole commitment.
Before any detailed findings change hands, the deal is in writing: nothing upfront, 20% of a verified saving.
AI reads it line by line; I decide what matters. It's the audit you would run yourself, if you ever had the week to spare.
What I found, worked through on your own numbers, in a document you keep.
If I find nothing, you pay nothing. If the saving is real and verified, I take 20% of it. That's the whole fee for a one look.
Relentless about money you've already lost.
These are the usual hiding places, not the limit. If money moves through it, I can look at it.
The quiet ones. Subscriptions, processors, suppliers, utilities, charges that crept up a dollar at a time while you were busy.
Rates you settled for because the bank said yes once. I benchmark your rates and terms against the market and tell you where you stand. Any new loan is between you and the lender.
Hours of your week spent doing by hand what a system should do once. Time is a leak too, it just doesn't send an invoice.
Deductions missed and credits never claimed. I identify candidates; your CPA, whom you engage and pay directly, decides what applies and does any filing.
Surcharges, accessorials, and fees buried in forwarder invoices, checked against what your contract actually allows. Small per-container charges add up fastest.
Duties that may have been paid at the wrong rate, and refunds that may still be in time to claim. Anything filed with customs is handled by a licensed customs broker you engage directly.
Where the law requires a license, a licensed specialist does that work. A CPA handles tax filings, a licensed customs broker handles entries, a lender makes any loan. You contract with and pay them directly. I recommend and coordinate, and I take no fee from any of them. My job is finding the money and following it through.
This is a specimen: a fictional business, fictional figures, built to show the format every finding takes. The numbers are worked end to end, the way yours would be.
| Invoice line | Billed | Contract | Margin note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ocean freight, 11 shipments | $61,480 | $61,480 | agrees |
| Fuel surcharge (FSC) | $19,059 | $14,847 | FSC applied 2× on 4 invoices — contract §4.2 caps it once |
| Chassis fee, per container | $3,150 | $3,150 | agrees |
| Finding | Evidence | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiries answered too late to win the work: 61 of 214 website enquiries in one quarter were answered more than a day later, or not at all. | enquiry log against the website inbox, 13 weeks | A same day reply standard, with one named owner for the inbox. |
| Advertising runs untracked: $2,400 a month across five campaigns, and none of them can be tied to a signed job. | ad invoices against the job book, 6 months | Track every campaign to the signed job. Stop or fix the ones that never land. |
| Quotes die quietly: 38 of 96 quotes in the same quarter were never followed up. | quote register, one quarter | Every quote leaves with a follow up date and gets a second call. |
Growth work is quoted in writing before it starts. This specimen shows the format of a growth diagnosis, not a price.
The calculator is the fee definition in arithmetic: 20% of a verified saving, nothing if there is none. What counts as verified is defined in the fee definition. You can also run one real number from your own books through the Statement X-Ray, which works entirely inside your browser.
The tools, what each one touches, and where each one stops.
| Task | Engine | Human check |
|---|---|---|
| Document extraction and line-by-line reading | Anthropic Claude (API) | Yes |
| Reconciliation and figure checking | A second Claude pass checks the first pass's figures. Two passes of one model family can share a blind spot, which is why the next column exists. | Yes — a person reviews and signs off every figure before it reaches you |
| Company mailbox and workflows | Muse, an AI agent, reads the company inbox and drafts replies and tasks. Nothing it drafts is sent without the owner's approval. | Yes |
| Regulated determinations: tax, customs, lending | Not AI. | Licensed professional |

Every document is dated, versioned, and readable before you commit to anything. There are no published client findings yet. A finding appears here only when it is verified in writing and the client agrees in writing. Until then, these documents are what you can hold us to.
What "verified" means, benefit by benefit, and how the 20% on savings work is calculated. Growth work is priced separately, in writing.

I am Simon Marshall. For over twenty years I have run businesses in Texas. The last one I built from raw land: a piece of residential ground turned into a hospitality business, a venue, cabins, and a team running around seventy events a year. A multimillion dollar operation, grown straight through a pandemic, and growing at nine to eleven percent a year.
That meant doing every job a business has: finding customers, pricing, marketing, hiring, building systems. That's why clients can bring me any part of theirs.
Then I did the thing most owners never do: I audited my own business like an outsider, and found money it had been leaving on the table for years. Money in bills nobody had reread, charges that crept, work done by hand that a system should have done once. Not because the business was run badly. Because I was too busy running it.
So I built the audit I wished somebody had sold me: experience doing the judging, AI doing the digging, and, for savings work, a fee that only exists if the money shows up. A named, accountable person signs your agreement and every finding. That part happens in the open, in writing, before your records move.
That is Marshall & Co. Tested on its owner's own business first, then pointed at other people's: the whole business, from someone who has run one.
